Jobs by The Trinidad Building and Loan Association
The Trinidad Building and Loan Association (TBLA) was established since 1891 to provide mortgage financing for home ownership, credit facilities and wealth creation for its members and customers. TBLA is a permanent Building Society incorporated under the Building Societies Act Chapter 33:04. of Trinidad and Tobago.
The Association’s purpose is to positively influence its members’ standard of living which transcends into their community life and by extension the wider society. All this lends itself to contributing to national development through the provision of mortgage loans and wealth creation opportunities. Allowing members and customers to own their own homes through the provision of affordable mortgages and at the same time giving them the opportunity to save and invest to enhance their wealth, would affirmatively contribute towards good family life and community living.
The objectives of the Association are to raise funds from customers and members and to make loans available to purchase, construct or renovate their homes.
The overall responsibility of looking after the affairs of the Association rests with the Board of Directors. The day to day responsibility for managing the Association is done by the Chief Executive Officer, who is appointed by the Board. Other employees and staff are recruited to assist in managing and running the organization.
At the end of each financial year, the Association holds its Annual General Meeting where members having shares in the organization would be allowed to attend and participate in decision making and policy direction- setting of the Association. Special General Meetings are called periodically for members to consider specific issues affecting the Association.
The Association’s beautiful architectural building is ideally located on 89 Queen Street, Port of Spain, (Corners Queen and Chacon Streets) in the heart of the city Port of Spain, Trinidad.
Three years ago, the Association embarked on a transformation initiative aimed at improving the quality of service it provides to customers and members. This initiative created an innovative culture and new operating systems to better satisfy the needs of our current and prospective members.
The Association has now positioned itself to provide superior products and services relative to our competitors, so that the organization can continue to grow and prosper well into the 21st century, while sustaining its rich history and values.
